Hi I'm Tom a newly appointed Digital Marketing guy at dataIQ, I'm 22 and have much to learn about the world of data.
I'm going to write this blog as regularly as I can, I'll aim to provide commentary, happenings and maybe even insight into the world of data. On second thoughts, maybe not insight quite yet. One thing I might be able to provide consistently is the new guy's perspective of data news and events which hopefully you will find useful, and perhaps even entertaining. I'm very open & grateful for feedback so please feel free to comment below, tweet me @TheDataIQ or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Probably the biggest challenge in this role is to help promote the real value of data. Compared to data dependent business functions like marketing or PR they're certainly understood better and valued more directly. This isn't terribly fair given the value it adds to any business, I'm here to help the team get to grips with this. A colleague of mine mentioned this week that at one of our events somebody personally thanked him, not because he had done anything specific for her but because she felt like we were building a community of people passionate about data. I hope to continue this good work online and I'm lucky enough to have been given the platform to do it.
If you've got any suggestions please get in touch! Otherwise I will be blogging on Monday about contemporary and modern attitudes towards personal data.
See you then!
Ps, the awkward graduation photo if for your benefit, not mine.
