One of the biggest challenges facing chief data and analytics officers is how to demonstrate the impact they are having on the organisation. Value chains from the application of data and analytics are often not clearly linked, making proof of bottom line outcomes hard to show. Attribution of value remains a science that is in its formative stages. Softer measures can act as proxies, but they do not always convince the chief financial officer.
