Leading Insights Teams
Drawing on extensive experience leading insight and analysis teams, as well as memories of the early days managing a team for the first time, this workshop probes beneath the traditional HR leadership models to help prepare you for the challenges ahead.
Aims and objectives:
For most analysts the development plan into a first leadership role has involved being the best possible analyst they can be. Not a bad starting point! The challenge is that the leadership skills needed to step up and lead a team are very different. Not only that but the general leadership training provided by many HR and learning and development teams can be generic and often doesn’t address the sometime unique challenges of leading knowledge workers. The aim of this session is to help analysts and data professionals build the skills required to shift from providing great analytics to leading a great analysis team that delivers proactive solutions and quality insights to their business.
The core objectives and learning outcomes of the workshop are to:
- Understand why leading analysts presents unique issues and how these often relate to the core career anchors that drive knowledge workers.
- Understand why traditional leadership development can run into problems and how an alternative leadership model might help.
- Deliver some practical wisdom that might just come in useful, “ten things I wish I’d known before I first led a team”, helping learn from some of the battle scars!
Refreshments will be available from 13.00 with the Forum commencing promptly at 13.30 and lasting 3 hours.
